A key can have multiple user IDs. This is helpful when you want to use the same key while communicating with several people and one of them does not recognize, say, the email address in your user ID. This person may not want to import your public key since it contains information that they do not know. In such scenarios, if you do not want to create a new key with a different user ID, you can attach a new user ID to your existing key.

To add an extra user ID:

Select the GnuPG keys keyring from the left side panel.

From the list, select the Personal PGP key of your choice.

Right click on the key and select Properties Names and Signatures.

Click the Add Name button to add a new user ID.

In the new dialog, fill in details like Full Name, Email Address and Key Comment for the new user ID.

Enter the correct passphrase and click OK to finish.

Your new user ID will now be listed under the Names and Signatures panel.

If your key has been published on a key server, synchronize it after adding new user IDs to update the remote copy of the key.
